4 2[sai:] 2012 is represented as dance with free improvised music and, as a result, art pieces with a form of colors - black, yellow, red, blue, green, and white.
Jeongeun Maeng came to Berlin in January of 2012 and began to have free improvised music sessions with musicians in Berlin. Her main instruments were korean traditional percussion. She played with different musicians and recorded every session, piece by piece. Later she danced with the recorded pieces and made as the result action paintings by herself, in Schoenstedtstrasse 12, Berlin-Neukoelln.
About a hundred paintings were made during 3 months - from the 2nd of July till the 28th of September. Also, there are several paintings which she made with different ideas - like without music, for specific people, music and emotions. In size, most of them are 100/120cm*150~200cm (H*V). Paper for table and PE underlays were used as canvases. The resulted paintings are to be dedicated to musicians in Berlin with whom she had sessions in 2012.

4 2[sai:] 2011 started as a performing art and was showed to public in Seoul Free Music Festival 2011 in Korea.

Creator
Jeongeun Maeng is music therapist, musician and performer.
She was born in Gangneung, a small village in Korea. She got a bachelor degree of Arts in the linguistics department in Seoul National University. She learned western classical piano and janggu, a Korean traditional percussion instrument and singing, especially shamanic music in the east-coast from late Kim, Yong-taek, the intangible cultural asset Nr. 82. She worked as a music therapist in Korea and began to work with the Project 4 2[sai:] as a musician/performer since 2011. From 2012 to 2013 she lived in Berlin and played music and performed free improvisation with different ensembles in Echtzeitmusik-Scene in Berlin. Before starting to study Music Therapy in Institute Musictherapy Berlin, she decided to come back to Korea and devoted herself to practicing HANMOM TRAINING, Korean traditional martial arts and qigong. As of 2021, she is involved with producing videos and operating 'hanmomtv PainRelief' and 'hanmomtv Healing' YouTube channels.

Project 4 2[sai:] is a lifelong project by Jeongeun Maeng, starting in 2011 in Seoul.
'4 2[sai:]' is here represented as its pronunciation - each number comes by chance followed by the sound, there is originally no special meaning in the combination of them - and also the combination of the sound and the number is arbitrary, which is a nature of language. It means in Korean an interval, a distance, halfway, a mediator, and relations. It deals with tension and distance between different people, cultures, genres and states of being, like living and dead. The main goal of this project is to represent, maximize and dissolve the differences, therefore to set healing processes for/by participants - not only metaphorically, but also therapeutically. It is to be represented and experimented as various artistic genres, with various people and cultures.
